Blocks with defect groups <math>C_p</math> were studied by Brauer in [[References|[Bra41]]], where the number of irreducible ordinary and Brauer characters determined, and what is now called the Brauer tree introduced. Brauer's work was extended to arbitrary cyclic <math>p</math>-groups in seminal work [[References|[Da66]]] of Dade, making use of [[References|[Th67]]].

The indecomposable modules for a block with cyclic defect groups were determined by Janusz in [[References|[Ja69]]] and Kupisch in [[References|[Kup69]]].

The source algebras of blocks with cyclic defect groups were determined by Linckelmann in [[References|[Li96]]].
